Budding entrepreneurs entering the affiliate marketing business invariably struggle with many questions on the setup, methods and strategies of their new business.

Should I get your own website? Do I need one? Will it make a difference to my affiliate sales?

If you have ever joined any affiliate programs at all then you will know that every affiliate program provides you with your own version of the merchants sales page - coded with your affiliate link, in order to track sales.

Technically it is possible to make money promoting this turnkey site that the merchant has provided. In my professional opinion and from my own experience though, this is NOT the way to go if you are serious about making your affiliate business a full-time enterprise.

Let me explain why - giving the most important points against using the affiliate website:

1. By far the most important factor is that the affiliate program can go out of business at anytime leaving any promotions that you have done for your affiliate site useless. If you have links on the www pointing to an affiliate page and the company is no longer in existence then those links will fail to work.

If you have your own website then YOU are in control. You can simply point the link on your end to a new company and thus give you a chance of building a new income stream.

2. It is undoubtedly of massive importance that you build your reputation online. If you only promote another persons website, even though it will bring you commissions, it will usually have the name of the product owner on this site. So, in this case, you are building the merchants' reputation and web presence instead of your own. Branding your name and business online will lead to further success so it's better to get YOUR name out there right from the very start.

3. Point 3 is, that with an affiliate page you don't have the ability to make changes to your webpage. Again, this is a business, so you MUST add your own uniqueness and some personality to the aspect of this business that you are presenting to the public. You CANNOT do this with the affiliate site that the merchant provides - ONLY with your own website and domain name.

So by now you may be asking for the solution. The only answer is to get a website and build YOUR own web presence and brand rather than someone elses. This way you can promote any affiliate programs you like from your new site AND you can change the links, content etc. as often as you require.

This is how I personally do it. If you visit my own sites you will see that I have added loads of my own content BUT each of the links from within that site point to affiliate product from which I will get a commission for evey sale that is made.

Do you see how this works? Do you see how it is a much better strategy than promoting an affiliate page that will NEVER belong to me?

Now, at this stage you may be terrified as to how you where you would even start to acquire your own business domain name and website.

The process is actually quite simple, once you actually begin to push through the fear and take action.

If you don't see the importance of having your own website now then believe me, it WILL become clear as you get a better understanding of online business.

For a few dollars per year for a domain name and hosting you are much better to have an affiliate website than be without one.

Formula To Achieve Success Online.

I’m writing this article because I thought you might want to know my formula for success for my online business. This sounds very simple and yet, it might change your whole mindset. It applies when you are building your own online business. Throughout my journey to achieve success, I’ve encountered many people who struggled to achieve success online. Most of them ask me questions like, ‘how to achieve success’. Or questions like, ‘how to make more money from the internet’. What’s the formula to achieve online success? Ok, read on and I’ll reveal it.

The formula is simple. When you are working, you must have in mind that ultimately what you want to achieve from your online business is this: Work less, earn more. But first, you must understand this formula in order to achieve that. Here’s the formula: Assuming you are working 8 hours a day, and you are getting X result (X can be any amount of money you are getting now.) Where most people failed to achieve success is, they try to earn X + Y (Y can be any amount of extra money you want to get) without finding a way to work less first. In another words, finding a way to work less while still getting X result. In order for you to get Y result, you should find ways to work less than 8 hours first and still be getting X result. Let’s say 6 hours. Once you able to achieve that, only then can you consider how to find ways to get Y result.

In a nutshell, First step: Work 8 hours (or whatever your existing working hours are) and get X result. Second step: Find ways to work 6 hours and still get X result. Third step: Work 8 hours again but get X + Y results. Once you achieve this, your next step is to find ways on how to achieve X + Y results by working only 6 hours instead of 8 hours. Once you find that, only than you can think about getting Z result (Z can be any amount of extra money you want to have).

So, repeat the whole process: First step: Work 8 hours get X + Y results. Second step: Find ways to work 6 hours and still get X + Y results.Third step: Work 8 hours again but get X + Y + Z results. Keep on repeating this process until you get the maximum results you can get (this can be A+B+C+X+Y+Z). At some stage, you’ll probably reach the optimum of getting the results and you can hardly earn more by working 8 hours a day. Once you achieve this, congratulations. Now, what you need to do is to find ways to WORK LESS but still get the same results.

So at the end, you’ll be able to WORK LESS And EARN MORE. People fail to achieve online success because they don’t know or understand this simple formula and practice it! This formula stressed managing your fundamentals before engaging yourself to earn more. People failed to achieve more results because they try to earn more without learning how to maintain and work less first. So, they’ll end up working more hours each day.

That’s why, you can see many people becoming more stressed when their business increases. I’ve been practicing this formula. Each day when I work, I’ll look into my existing business and find ways to reduce the work. Once I got that, only then I’ll think on how to make more money. So, each month, I’m making more money but working less or putting the same amount of time invested. This is how you can achieve success without getting more stress in life. What you should be doing now is go look at your job or business and apply this formula if you want to achieve success in the long term.

Find a product to promote where you make good commission on each sale. Generally, you will get the biggest commissions on digital products. Digital products are defined as something that is downloaded directly to a customer's computer after purchasing, like electronic books or software.
Since there is no extra cost per unit, no inventory and no shipping, the commissions are much greater than on regular "physical" goods. The most common commission on digital products is 50%. The best place to find such products is Clickbank.com.

Sign up as a reseller (also called affiliate) for a product that looks the most appealing to you. After you sign up, you will get a unique affiliate link where you need to send people to purchase the product.

Your affiliate link will have a special code that will tell the product owner that it's you who referred the customer. The affiliate link code will allow your commissions to be tracked correctly and assigned to you.

Step 2: Get Domain Name
Get a domain name to redirect to your affiliate link. A domain name is a .COM name (like yourproduct.com). You can get it for under $9 at GoDaddy.com. GoDaddy.com will allow you to redirect your domain name to your affiliate link at no extra cost.
So when someone types in your .COM domain in their browser, it will go to your affiliate link. The visitor will see the website with the product you promote, and the commissions will be tracked correctly.

In order to make sales, you need to get visitors to your domain name (which will forward them to the website of the product that you resell). You can pay for advertising and hope that your profit will be greater than advertising cost, or you can use free ways to generate traffic.
The most effective way to get free targeted visitors to your domain name is by writing and submitting articles. You can write short articles on the topic related to the product that you promote. At the end of the article, you include your author bio and your domain name link.

You will then submit your articles to various websites, and allow them to publish your articles as long as your link is included. Your articles will get published in many places on the Internet, and will be advertising your affiliate link at no cost to you whatsoever. People will read your articles, like what you have to say and click on your domain name link ready to buy.

Once you start getting regular sales from your articles, you can go back to step 1 and find another product to promote using this strategy. After a while, you will build up a nice source of Internet income - without even having a website.
